My dad has this 2010 Audi Q5 3.2 with the Bang & Olufsen system. Well when I tested it, the music plays fine in ACC mode, but once the engine is on and it warms up, the audio fades out completely. MMI stays responsive, but there's just no sound. We even tried swapping in a replacement amp (same part number, component protection removed), but no change. Could this be a power draw issue tied to the amp or something deeper in the CAN system?

That definitely sounds like a power delivery issue. Maybe double-check the ground points? Also the battery voltage under load before digging into the CAN side.

Could be a CAN issue or a power drop once the engine is under load. Some of these Q5s have had weird grounding or voltage stability issues tied to the amp's power feed so maybe start by checking if the amp is getting steady voltage once the engine is on.

Agree, it might be a sign of thermal amplifier protection kicking in or potential CAN communication problems. Make sure to inspect the cooling fans, check the wiring harness for any issues, and verify that the MMI software is up to date.
